About This Opportunity
United for Literacy believes that everyone has the right to literacy and education in a positive and safe environment that focuses on meeting each learner's unique needs.
In our Reading Circle Program, you will work with elementary-aged learners (age 7-12) and create a fun environment that is focused on building positive positive memories and experiences around learning and reading.
You will work one on one and in small groups with learners to play games, do activities, read, write and build their confidence! You will commit to one hour a week on a weekend or weeknight for the year 2023-2024 (October-April).
Locations and Times:
- [In-Person] Millwoods location (South Side) - Tues 6:30-7:30 pm
- [In-Person] Whitemud Crossing (South Central) - Wed 6:30-7:30 pm
- [In-Person] Stanley A. Milner (Downtown) - Sat 3-4 pm
- [In-Person] Lois Hole location (West End) - Sun 10:30-11:30 am
- [In-Person] Strathcona location (Whyte Ave) - Sun 3pm-4pm
- [Online] Remote - Tuesday 6:30-7:30 / Wed 6:30-7:30pm
We are looking for punctual, enthusiastic, and dedicated volunteers who are interested in making a positive difference in the lives of children and youth. Volunteers must be open and understanding of other cultures. No previous experience or special skills/abilities are required.
