About This Opportunity
Recreation Navigator Program is a specialized type of match that focuses on providing recreation and leisure support to government-assisted refugee clients who has been living in Nova Scotia for more than one year. Volunteering in this program will give you the opportunity to meet new people, make a positive impact and be a part of a team committed to helping refugee families settle in Nova Scotia. You will be contributing to building a community where all can belong and grow by helping these families engage in community activities, recreation and sports.
As a recreation navigator volunteer, you will meet with a refugee family once a week where you will:
1-Asses the family’s knowledge of recreation centres and programs in their community
2-Help them register for programs and activities they are interested in
3-Help them complete funding applications
4-Show them how to get to different community centres, parks, libraries and playgrounds.
5-Have the opportunity to enjoy free activities with them
