About This Opportunity
The role of a Shelter Support Volunteer involves aiding Shelter Support staff in various tasks related to shelter operations. This includes answering phones and doorbells, cleaning client rooms upon discharge, supporting shelter staff with their responsibilities, and assisting clients as required. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. This position offers valuable training for individuals interested in careers within social services, community work, and related fields. Applicants selected for this role may undergo orientation training provided by the Welcome Centre. Training topics will cover responding to client inquiries, completing necessary intake and discharge procedures, and familiarizing volunteers with the overall Centre operations. Currently, there is a high demand for volunteers during weekdays from Monday to Wednesday, with shifts available from 9 am to 1 pm and 10 am to 2 pm, as well as in the evenings from 3 pm to 7 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm. A Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance is required for this position. A requirement of a minimum 4 hours/week and a minimum of 6 months commitment
