About This Opportunity

Volunteers offer support and friendship to the client through ongoing regularly-scheduled walks or visits. 

The objectives of the Special Steps program are to provide activity and companionship to the person with Alzheimer’s disease (AD); to assist in the management of symptoms associated with AD such as restlessness, wandering; to provide relief for caregivers and to increase the individual’s support network. Participants are matched with a volunteer on a one-to-one basis depending on the needs of the client/caregiver. 

Walks in the community whether indoor walking facilities or outdoor (weather permitting). Interaction can also include a visit inside or outside living premises.
