About This Opportunity
Become a Study Buddy and help ignite the power and potential of a young person to thrive at school. BBBSCSI serves elementary school students in Kamloops, Kelowna, Cranbrook, and surrounding areas.
Our mission is to enable life changing Mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people, and our vision is for all young people to realize their full potential. As a Study Buddy, you will share with your Mentee, the BBBSCSI Agency, parents or caregivers, and school staff, a commitment to fostering a safe, enjoyable, meaningful, and healthy Mentoring relationship.
Study Buddies will be matched with a Mentee in Grades 2 to 8. Matches will spend 1 hour a week together on a virtual call as part of our Study Buddy program. The Mentor will help the Mentee with their schoolwork or related academic skills that the Mentee wants to build upon and practice.

Study Buddies will:
- Successfully complete each phase of the application process
- Participate in Pre-Match Training
- Speak regularly with program staff and the partnering school throughout the match
- Be a friend to their Mentee
- Meet their Mentee on a regular and consistent basis
- Be a positive role model, emphasizing values such as trust, respect, reliability, honesty, fairness, commitment, resilience, and kindness
- Place primary importance upon the protection and well-being of children and youth
- Be supervised and supported by, and remain accountable to, program staff - Function within the guidelines and support the mission of BBBSCSI
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Be a Teen (in Grades 9 to 12) or an Adult (19 years or older)
- Have the ability to relate to young people and adults
- Have the ability to adapt to change
- Be reliable, honest, trustworthy, and fun to hang out with
- Be collaborative, patient, and positive
