DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hospice volunteers are respected and valued members of the community, who give generously of themselves
and their time. Each individual brings unique gifts to those they serve.
The following list offers examples of duties and responsibilities of non-client care volunteers within the
organization:
- Maintains confidentiality
- Exhibits a courteous, professional, friendly manner
- Adheres to Bruce Peninsula Hospice Policies and Procedures
- Informs the Manager in a timely manner if unable to fulfill duties
- Maintains a record of duties and submits monthly statistics to the Bruce Peninsula Hospice office
- Acts as an ambassador for Bruce Peninsula Hospice
- Computer word processing, spreadsheet creation and data entry, use of the database software to prepare reports, documents
- Sorting incoming mail, faxes and preparing outgoing correspondence and faxes
- Forwarding voice mail to the appropriate individuals within the organization
- Coding and filing materials according to established procedures
- Updating and ensuring accuracy of the organization’s database
- Providing secretarial and administrative support as needed
- Assist with maintaining social media platforms
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles, Simply Accounting, Excel, Word
- Utilizing computer software/database to prepare receipts and financial statements
- Coding and filing financial material according to established record management procedures
- Processing payables/receivables, ensuring timeliness, accuracy of codes, appropriate backup procedures
- Calculating and recording quarterly volunteer mileage payments and volunteer hours
- Preparing accurate bank reconciliations and deposits
- Administering petty cash according to established procedures
- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports as needed
