About This Opportunity
The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre (OFCRC) strives to empower older adults and people with physical disabilities to maintain their independence through advocacy, referral and support services. We are currently seeking volunteers to join our Transportation team as Transportation Drivers.
Transportation Drivers make a significant and meaningful impact to older adults and people with disabilities that need transportation for medical appointments, grocery shopping and activities. Transportation drivers help our clients live independently, lessen social isolation and enhance their overall better well being.
As a transportation driver you will:
• Drive clients to designated destinations
• Minimally assist clients to and from vehicle
• Abide by all OFCRC volunteer policies, procedures and practices
• Report any concerns of clients to the Program Coordinator
• Complete all required training and attend on-going additional training sessions as needed
• Report to the Transportation Coordinator for all scheduling and availability
• Perform other duties as required

You bring many talents, including:
• Strong defensive driving skills
• Ability to drive in various weather conditions
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• High level of patience, compassion and empathy in a non-judgemental environment
• Ability to communicate clearly and reliably with clients
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Where and when you would volunteer:
• Days of operation are Monday to Friday. Times or operation are 8am-4pm. There is flexibility with time commitment, and we can work to accommodate your availability. Common shifts are once per week for a minimum of 2 hours.
• Minimum six-month commitment preferred but not required
• Must follow all safety protocols in place
