About This Opportunity
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
● To direct the organization according to the stated Constitution and By-Laws
● To develop long and short-term goals and objectives to ensure continuity and progress of the organization and approve programs to accomplish them.
● To provide continuity for the governance and management of the organization’s affairs by:
● Defining the role, responsibilities, and functions of the Board Members, senior staff, and volunteers.
● Building and renewing the Board by identifying potential Board Members. ● Overseeing the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and evaluation of Board Members.
● Overseeing the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and evaluation of the Managing Direction and staff.
● To provide continuity for the management and administration of the organization’s affairs through financial management by:
● Establishing the budget and financial reporting system.
● Monitoring the revenues and expenditures of the organization.
● Managing the assets of the organization.
● The Board has a responsibility to advocate on behalf of the organization and in keeping with the values and beliefs underlying it.
The Board accomplishes this by:
● Developing community awareness of the unique mission of this organization. b. ● ● Representing the organization to the community, governments, foundations, corporations, and other funding organizations.
● Board Treasurer Description
● Is a member of the Board
● Manages finances of the organization
● Administers fiscal matters of the organization
● Is a signatory for financial documents including audit and banking
● Provides annual budget to the board for members’ approval
● Provides financial updates at board meetings of all financial documents delivered monthly
● Works closely with the Executive Director and Organizational Finance Officer on financial review and projections as well as operational budget
● Ensures development and board review of financial policies and procedures
Dance Umbrella of Ontario (DUO)'s board of directors meets every two months virtually. The organization provides its services to the not-for-profit dance sector in Ontario. The candidate may be located anywhere in Ontario. The board may meet in person on occasion when required.
