About This Opportunity
Volunteering with us is an awesome way to earn volunteer hours as we also do take account in the commute time. Once a volunteer exceeds 15 hours they are able to request a certificate as proof for volunteering and can be used for any awards/certificate applications. Checkmate also do provide reference letters for volunteers as well as volunteer of the month certificates. Joining our community is a great way to meet new people and expand on developing your interpersonal skills! To support our mission, the Checkmate community is looking for volunteers who have experience in chess to help run our programs. Volunteer would be aiding our event leads with delivering our lesson plans, helping with set up/clean up, mentoring and playing matches with our participants. We host various workshops across Calgary that strives to bridge gaps between youths from various backgrounds. In the past, we have held events in the public libraries as well as in many community buildings. This volunteer role however, is in person requiring volunteers to commute to the event locations (in Calgary).
