About This Opportunity
Island Community Justice Society is a charitable organization that provides Restorative Justice programming for the Dept. of Justice.
Restorative Justice is a relationally focused approach to addressing the harm caused to individuals and community through crime. It relies on collaborative and wholistic
methods to inspire reparative outcomes. It also aims to address the root causes of a person's participation in the cycle of harm.
ICJS is seeking volunteers who can participate insightfully, and compassionately, in the restorative process, by co-facilitating talking circles with an experienced caseworker, 2-4 times per month.
Volunteers will help interview persons in conflict with the law and impacted parties, building relationships and connecting them with valuable resources and programming in order to move forward from incidents of harm done. We meet in person at our office, or out in communities in order to break down travel barriers.
