About This Opportunity

 In this role, you’ll help maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful online environment. You’ll oversee forum activity, support users, and work closely with a small team of moderators to keep the community running smoothly. Further, will liaise with the MDSC Forum moderators and will welcome and train new members and answer questions posted by Forum Users on how to use the forum.

The MDSC Forum Administrator will read new posts and when required, edit or delete postings that do not honour the values and purpose of the forum.

Position Details:

  • Oversee daily activity on the forum and ensure posts align with community guidelines
  • Welcome and assist new members
  • Respond to user questions and webmail inquiries
  • Approve or deny registration requests (screen for spam accounts)
  • Edit or remove posts when necessary
  • Coordinate communication among the moderator team
  • Work from home
  • Coordinate any communications with others on the forum moderator team
  • Work 2-5 hours per week
  • This is an unpaid position that requires a one-year commitment

Qualifications

  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a virtual environment
  • Empathetic, respectful, and non-judgmental approach
  • Reliable with good time management
  • Able to exercise sound judgement and maintain confidentiality
  • Lived experience with mental health challenges or knowledge of the mental health field would be an asset but is not required.

Excellent experience for students studying social work, medicine, or nonprofit administration; anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in the subject of mental health; and anyone who is passionate about running encouraging online communities.
