Overview
Reimagine Agriculture is seeking a Volunteer Fundraising Assistant who can help us secure funding for our organization. This role is ideal for early-career individuals with 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, business development or a related field, who are passionate about transforming food systems.
Description
Reimagine Agriculture is dedicated to addressing critical food system challenges, including food waste and conventional animal agriculture.
As a Volunteer Fundraising Assistant, you will play a key role in achieving our fundraising objectives, growing our annual budget and pursuing new fundraising opportunities. Your primary responsibilities will include researching potential funding opportunities and writing and coordinating grant applications.
This position is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a small yet ambitious team in the non-profit sector and make a tangible impact on our organization’s growth.
This unpaid volunteer position is 5-10 hours per week and will work alongside the Executive Director, President, Operations Assistant and Fundraising team.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to identify potential grants, foundations, and other funding opportunities.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and team tasks, deliverables and assist with proposal development, including the preparation of proposal drafts, writing, editing, use of graphics, and PowerPoint development.
- Build and maintain a proposal content repository to include most accurate up to date information.
- Maintain the donor opportunities database.
- Support the development and implementation of fundraising strategies, in line with overall objectives, to help grow our annual budget.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, business development or a related field.
- Persuasive writing and research skills (especially prospect research).
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to our mission of transforming the food system.
Preferred:
- Understanding of the Canadian charity funding landscape.
- Background in a relevant area of study (e.g. business administration, public relations, marketing, non-profit management).
