Flexible - Usually 2 to 3 hours per week (possibly greater during the spring planting season)
Summary of Position
1. Gardening Volunteer is responsible for planning, planting, and maintenance of the Central Community Health Centre courtyard and gardening plots.
Primary responsibilities
1. Ensure the CCHC grounds, including rear patio, garden, and building perimeter are kept looking neat, clean, and attractive
2. Ensure grounds surrounding building are neat and tidy (no garbage or little; weeds removed from the back side of the building)
3. Ensure property has no hazards that may endanger other volunteers, staff, or clients
4. Assist with planting and maintenance of gardening plots.
5. Attend any training sessions and volunteer meetings as required
Qualifications
1. Basic gardening knowledge and experience
2. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, digging, and bending for extended periods
3. Dependable and reliable
4. Understanding of basic safety practices when using tools and working outdoors
5. Strong organizational skills
6. Able to work well with others and as part of a team
7. Creative
8. Strong problem-solving skills
9. Accessibility to transportation
