About This Opportunity
Program Location: St. James Town
Program Dates: July 4 - 29, Monday - Friday
Program Times: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pre- Program Responsibilities
- Attend mandatory volunteer training
- Review curriculum framework goals and any other program-related materials
- Read and sign Leacock Communication and Behaviour policies
- Provide background check: vulnerable sector screening
Responsible for, but not limited to
- Support and collaborate with the Site Director
- Arrive early to help set up classrooms and space, and greet students as well as assist at the end of the day
- Support the students during independent work time
- Model appropriate behaviour for a positive learning environment (no cell phones, listening to teacher instructions, active listening).
- Serve as a branding ambassador for social media: take photos of camp events and share with site director
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled
- Help students participate in online activities (ie. Padlet, Edmodo)
- Contribute to lessons by giving examples to the students to make sure they understand
- Plan, organize, and lead afternoon recreational activities
- Assist the teacher with classroom tasks such as distributing supplies and snack
- Lead movement and brain breaks during recess
- Participate in classroom activities such as leading a question of the day or reading aloud to the class
