Details:

CultureLink is seeking 2 volunteer mentors to facilitate online Mentorship program known as Newcomers Speak Up for Success -- Public Speaking and Beyond.

Newcomers Speak Up for Success consists of ten weekly sessions and will run from July 28, 2022 to September 29, 2022; on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm via Zoom.

Volunteer Mentors help newcomer participants practice Public Speaking and gain relevant skills in a friendly, relaxed and semi-formal environment, through various types of speeches.

Volunteer mentors work together and co-facilitate different parts of the weekly sessions, create and present content on tips and techniques of the public speaking and introduce activities to generate interest and confidence in the participants.

The average group size is 12 to 18 participants. We welcome newcomer participants to come and try out their public speaking without the obligation of attending all ten sessions. However, all newcomer participants who will attend at least seven sessions will receive a certificate.

Mentors are matched with participants for extra support and guidance and can connect outside of the weekly sessions to discuss speech prep or their role in the session activities.
