About This Opportunity
Are you passionate about promoting physical activity and building a stronger, more vibrant community in Saskatoon? Here's your chance to make a difference! Join us as a Volunteer Ambassador for the ParticipACTION Community Challenge and help rally Saskatoon towards becoming Canada's Most Active Community!
About the Opportunity:
As a Volunteer Ambassador, your role will be crucial in spreading the word and encouraging organizations and individuals across Saskatoon to participate in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. You'll be reaching out to the volunteer coordinator to find out which area should be reached out to. Organizations may include churches, schools, youth groups, long-term care homes, sports clubs, cultural organizations, businesses, and more, inviting them to register their groups and take the pledge for a more active lifestyle.
Responsibilities:
Identify and compile contact information for various organizations and community groups in Saskatoon. Edit already created personalized emails to these groups if needed, explaining the benefits of participating in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge and inviting them to register and take the pledge and attach the ParticipACTION letter pdf to the email. If you so desire you may reach out in person and/or social media as well. It is about making the connections, and spreading the word
Encourage organizations to spread the word within their communities through posters, meetings, and word of mouth.
Additionally, if the volunteer can think of how to engage everyone in Saskatoon should have access to the quality sports, recreational physical activity opportunities that help them grow and thrive—physically, emotionally and socially. Our community organization promotes a fit list, and recreational / physical activity opportunities in June to equity-deserving groups, in particular Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+, persons with varying abilities, low-income populations and newcomers to Canada. We appreciate any feedback on the best ways to reach out to these groups for diversity and inclusion
Benefits for Volunteers: Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of Saskatoon residents. Develop valuable communication and outreach skills. Connect with diverse community groups and organizations. Gain satisfaction from contributing to a national initiative aimed at fostering active living and community engagement. Enhance your resume with volunteer experience in community outreach and engagement.
Qualifications: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Enthusiasm for promoting physical activity and community engagement. Ability to work independently and effectively manage time. Comfortable reaching out to and interacting with various community organizations. Access to email and internet for communication and research purposes.
