Position Title: Volunteer - Peer Leader (Youth)

Organization Structure: Reports to the Programs Manager

Job Classification: Volunteer

Job Status: Volunteer, Tuesdays from 4:00PM to 5:00PM

Minimum commitment of 3 months

Scope

To provide any support or assistance in youth-led initiatives, events, and workshops. To work with newcomer youth in the community, learn about the needs of newcomer youth, and implement activities to address needs.


Responsibilities

- Learn and understand the agency's mission and objective, and carry out volunteer work according to the agency program expectations

- Work with team members in completing tasks to support youth initiatives, such as planning workshops, events, and community volunteering

- Help provide support in outreach of youth programs and services (email, in-person, community outreach, etc.)

- Be aware of cultural differences and ensure that the rights of all are respected

- Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

- Ability to be creative in planning and organizing workshops, presentations, events, and other initiatives

- Enthusiasm to promote programs, workshops, and events

- Effective communication within a team environment

- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues facing newcomers

- An interest in being involved in the community and volunteer work

- Punctual and responsible


Other requirements

- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
