Volunteer Position – Ambulatory Care Clerical Support
Program Operates Monday to Friday
Shifts: 08:45 to 3:00
Available Shift: Every Monday 8:45 to 3:00
General Responsibilities:
· Greet patients as they arrive at reception desk
· Ensure the patient has registered at Patient Registration
· New patients require a doctors “new patient” form to be completed
· Pre-admit patient forms to be issued and prepared for nurse and any documents for anesthetist labeled.
· Answer the telephone and take messages if staff not available, ensure these messages are forwarded to the correct person in a timely manner
· Ensure patients are in the right department; if not, call porter to escort them
· Receive labels and/or chart from patient registration
· Ensure document for Scopes is filled out or issue one to be completed. Also labels and wrist band prepared
· Call Porter to take any samples to the Lab or Trays to MDRD
· To make Appointment Reminder calls for clinics such as PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and Infusion. As and when required. Volunteer will be provided with a list of contacts to call and a Script to follow.
· To carry out work activities in a safe manner that is conducive to any and all MHA safety rules

Applicants for this Volunteer Position are required to complete the standard Volunteer on boarding process, which includes providing a current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Immunization Screening.
