About This Opportunity
BEC activities engage people and organizations in urban-centred regions to develop a
culture of sustainability. Currently they operate in Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton,
Edmonton, and Vancouver. BECC’s main role is to support development of BEC
initiatives.
The secretariat connects to teams in the national organization (BECC) and
teams in cities with Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) initiatives. Much of the connection comes
from hosting of monthly meetings of BECC and BEC team leaders.

The Secretariat Communicator, under direction of the Secretariat Administrator, would:
- Distribute the agenda and notes/attachments for secretariat meetings
- Take and distribute meeting minutes
- Produce a calendar of national or international events of interest to BECs
- Receive external inquiries for information on the BEC program
- Help development quarterly round tables for all BEC members
The candidate for this position should have the following skills and experience:
- Ability to organize and communicate information
- Ability to take minutes of a meeting
- Ability to write clearly and simply
- Experience with teamwork
Time Commitment and how to apply
It is expected that the candidate would be able to commit 4-5 hours per week for a year
to this volunteer position. There will be many opportunities for networking and skill
building.
