Scope
Volunteers will provide support or assistance in seniors-led initiatives, events, and workshops. It is essential for all volunteers to maintain a positive attitude and uplifting interactions with seniors in the community; to learn about the needs of seniors, and to assist them where possible.
Responsibilities
- Learn and understand the agency's mission and objectives
- Assist staff in completing tasks to support seniors’ activities, such as assisting at workshops, events, trips, and with community volunteering tasks
- Engage in friendly conversations, hold doors open, move light furniture when needed, and support seniors’ programs and services (in-person, community outreach, etc.)
- Be sensitive to cultural differences
- Perform other related duties as assigned Interpret when needed
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm to promote programs, workshops, and events
- Effective communication within a team environment
- Demonstrates sensitivity to seniors’ needs and issues
- An interest in being involved in the community and volunteer work
- Friendly, caring, respectful, and reliable
- We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds
- Volunteers who speak a second language would be helpful in interpreting for seniors where needed

- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
