Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver is growing and in need of a passionate leader to serve as our Volunteer Services Manager. This is a part-time position based out of Burnaby, British Columbia. The position will initially report to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities and Duties include: Habitat Greater Vancouver’s Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for administering the logistics of the volunteer program for Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver (HFHGV). The primary responsibilities include the scheduling and coordination of work groups and individual volunteers for the entire affiliate, including New Construction, ReStores, and events.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Have engaging conversations with all incoming phone calls and email inquiries. Connect the caller/email with the appropriate department.
- Assist the Family Services department with family service hour tracking and reporting, data entry, correspondence, coordinating events and webinars, filing, and other tasks as assigned.
- Respond to all individual volunteer inquiries.
- Onboarding of all new volunteers including initial interview, orientation scheduling and exit interviews
- Update orientation package and presentation for volunteers as required
- Maintain volunteer database and records of volunteer activities, including numbers of teams, volunteers, number of hours worked contact information, etc.
- Coordinate volunteer scheduling with ReStore, build site and special volunteer programs such as Women Build, Group Builds, etc.
- Create and maintain volunteer job descriptions.
- Conduct regular volunteer satisfaction surveys and communicate results.
- Manage and implement volunteer appreciation and recognition events
- Manage volunteer recognition awards
- Provide insight into volunteers for public spotlight stories • Ensure that volunteer liability waivers are signed and filed.
- Create and maintain volunteer policy & procedures.
- Notify the appropriate team member, in a timely manner, when team resources are needed for specific jobs.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- A strong belief in the mission of Habitat for Humanity and in the people and neighborhoods with whom we partner.
- Strong collaboration skills to coordinate across teams and departments.
- Ability to work independently and appropriately prioritize workload to meet schedules and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to work independently on a regular basis with little supervision. You will support employees working in the office and in the field/remotely.
- Knowledge of the following software programs is an asset but not required: MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Shopify, and SalesForce.
- A strong command of the English language (written + spoken) is required.
- Experience in public speaking
- Commitment to Habitat’s mission, vision, and values.
- Effective leadership and engagement skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule. Outside meetings and presentations, some evenings and weekends may be requested.
