About This Opportunity

Sawa World uses an innovative approach to instantly transform the lives of the unemployed and marginalized youth by giving them the skills to start micro-businesses in one day with locally created and simple solutions to self-employment. We provide large-scale access to local solutions that are created by the very people living in extreme poverty. Our programs are managed by a vibrant and youthful team at the Sawa World Solution Center in Kampala, Uganda. We also have staff and volunteers in Canada and the Netherlands, who support the work done in Uganda and around the world. Position Description Sawa World is seeking a dedicated Video Production Volunteer to join our team and help us capture and share the inspiring stories and impact of our programs. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about filmmaking and storytelling, and who want to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of young people in Uganda.

Main Duties 

1. Post Production Editing: Work with our Video Production team and help edit video content to create engaging and compelling stories that highlight the impact of our programs. This includes adding graphics, music, and subtitles when necessary. 

2. Storytelling: Work closely with the Video Production team to identify and develop compelling narratives that convey the organization's mission, values, and impact. 

3. Collaboration: Collaborate with the Video Production team and other staff members to align video content with the organization's messaging and branding.

Qualifications 

  • A passion for storytelling and creating impactful video content. 
  • Proven experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in developing, designing, producing, and disseminating communication materials to various media platforms. 
  • Proficiency in videography and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar). 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Creativity and attention to detail. 
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and needs.
Other Requirements 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Fun and outgoing personality. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members. 
  • Ability to creatively write compelling video scripts and narrations. 
  • Passionate about Sawa’s mission to promote local solutions to end global poverty. 

Time commitment: 3 to 5 hours per month for 12 months, with the opportunity to stay on as a long-term volunteer.
