About This Opportunity

Want to give back to your community? A & O: Support Services for Older Adults' Connect Program is looking for volunteers to provide social companionship to older adults living in Winnipeg in the person's home or community. A & O currently requires volunteers who enjoy conversation and have strong conversational and interpersonal skills. If you can commit a minimum of one hour a week in the morning, afternoon, or evening, you can make a difference for an older adult living in our community. Skills Required: -

Strong English conversational and interpersonal skills required 

 -Ability to work independently 

 -Completed criminal Record Search and Adult Abuse Registry check will be required of successful applicants, to be discussed. 

Skills Gained/Related Careers: -

Communicating with older adults 

-Opportunity to practice interpersonal skills 

-Opportunity to attend training session on a variety of topics related to aging. 

Time Commitment:

Daytime, Evening, Weekend Volunteers are free to complete visits during mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends depending on the schedules of both the volunteer and the older adult.

  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Willing to undergo a background or police records check
  • Reference checks
  • Willing to complete Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • Must complete an orientation session
