About This Opportunity
We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Cantonese-speaking volunteers to support our seniors’ programs at the Renfrew-Collingwood Seniors' Society. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the well-being of our senior community members by providing language assistance and helping staff with a variety of recreational activities.
We are currently in need of volunteers who are available for 2 hours from 12PM - 2PM, Monday-Friday. You do not need to commit to volunteering everyday. We will schedule you based on your availability.
• Assist with interpreting conversations from English to Cantonese (and vice versa).
• Assist with translating some program materials and announcements.
• Help bridge communication gaps between staff, volunteers, and seniors during programs.
• Create a warm and inclusive environment where seniors feel comfortable participating.
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff.
Qualifications:
• Fluent in Cantonese, proficient in conversational English.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful toward seniors.
• Reliable and committed to attending scheduled programs.
• Experience in working with seniors is a plus, but not required.
