Position Overview
In this role, you will coordinate creative fundraising campaigns, plan engaging events such as charity walks and virtual initiatives, and build meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners. You’ll lead a small team of volunteers, collaborate with our communications team to share impactful stories, and track fundraising progress to support our programs and advocacy work.
This position requires approximately 3–5 hours per week, with flexibility during major campaigns. While experience in fundraising or nonprofit work is an asset, it is not required, enthusiasm, organization, and strong communication skills are key.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small fundraising team of volunteers to plan and execute SJS Canada fundraising initiatives.
- Attend coordinator's meetings and schedule team meetings as needed.
- Reports to the Administrative Team
Fundraising Campaigns:
- Develop and coordinate innovative fundraising campaigns, including online, peer-to-peer, and community initiatives.
- Design and distribute materials to promote fundraising efforts.
• Monitor campaign progress and provide updates to the team.
Event Planning:
- Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events such as charity walks, virtual webinars, auctions, and community gatherings.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue arrangements, volunteer recruitment, and budget management. Promote events through social media, email, and partnerships with local organizations.
Donor Relations
- Identify and engage with potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with existing donors, providing regular updates and acknowledgment of their contributions.
- Assist in writing grant applications and sponsorship proposals.
Social Media and Marketing Support
- Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling content for social media, newsletters, and the SJS Canada website to highlight fundraising efforts.
- Share impact stories and testimonials to inspire donations.
Financial Tracking and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of donations, sponsorships, and expenses.
- Provide regular reports on fundraising progress and outcomes to the leadership team.
Community Engagement
- Act as an ambassador for SJS Canada, building relationships with community members and local businesses to increase awareness and support.
- Represent the organization at community events and outreach programs.
Qualifications:
Passion:
- Strong commitment to the mission of SJS Canada and raising awareness for rare diseases.
Experience:
- Previous experience in fundraising, event planning, or nonprofit work is an asset but not required.
- CFRE certification is an asset but not required.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop effective campaigns.
- Basic proficiency with social media platforms and fundraising tools.
Attributes:
- A proactive attitude, teamwork spirit, and the ability to work independently.
- Approximately 3-5hours per week, with flexibility based on availability.
- Additional time may be required during major fundraising events or campaigns.
