About This Opportunity
Who We Are:
OpenGate Ed Ontario is a student-led non-profit organization that aims to provide equitable education opportunities for all students across Ontario. Specifically, we run a Tutoring Support Initiative Program (online) that provides free weekly tutoring help for underserved student populations that face difficulties in accessing extracurricular support services.
Job Description:
We are seeking passionate volunteer tutors to help lead our Free Tutoring Support Initiative for K-12 students across Ontario.
As a tutor, you will:
- Lead tutoring sessions (once a week) with assigned student in subjects you are comfortable teaching
- Develop customized lesson plans based on individual student needs
- Monitor student progress via written post-session reflection notes
- Provide updates during scheduled check-ins with students, parents, and/or other OpenGate Ed team members
Minimum Requirements:
- Regular access to computer/laptop
- Currently a Grade 11 student or higher, or enrolled in Post-Secondary education (college/university), or currently working
- Sufficient knowledge in subjects you would like to teach
- Strong passion for helping others learn and succeed
- Previous teaching experience is an asset, but not a requirement!
Time Commitment:
- 1-2 hours per week
