Website Designer/Developer– Volunteer Position
About the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society….
The Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society is a not-for-profit society, established in 1989. Our members believe
that individuals with Down syndrome are capable of full participation in society and should be given the opportunity
to develop their potential.
To make this mission come to life, the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society aims to:
Provide information, support, and resources to individuals with Down Syndrome in BC and their families
Provide information about Down Syndrome and resources to people and organizations who support
individuals with Down Syndrome and their families
Advocate that governments and appropriate agencies provide the special resources often needed by individuals with Down Syndrome and their families
Lobby for appropriate educational, vocational, and social opportunities
Support families and increase public awareness
Network with other organizations and individuals
PURPOSE OF ROLE
The website designer/developer is responsible for maintaining the societies website with update to date information, building software that is required to keep the society running smoothly, and the security of the site.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The website designer/developer is responsible for ensuring that information is placed onto the site in a timely manner.
The website designer/developer is responsible to build user friendly software that will help our society to move forward with our vision.
Reports to the Executive Director and President with updates.
Completes task by deadlines and timeframes.
Can work onsite, and virtual as needed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent organization skills.
Excellent time management.
Excellent written, and verbal communications skills.
Has 2 years of design and development expertise.
Has training and knowledge of working with Word Press.
Designing the overall layout and aesthetic for websites.
Coding webpages or entire websites
Meeting with clients to review website templates or refine their designs.
Running tests to preview layouts and website features.
Writing and reviewing code for sites, typically HTML, XML, or JavaScript.
Integrating multimedia content onto a site.
Designing user interfaces and navigation menus.
Implementing and maintaining website content management systems.
Troubleshooting and debugging issues to ensure websites are functioning correctly.
